The researchers Joan Martí Molist, Marta López Saavedra, and Marc Martinez Sepúlveda assisted the Barcelona Deep Tech Summit, the summit of the city’s entrepreneurial and technological ecosystem on November 28 and 29. Organised by Barcelona Activa at Fira de Montjuic, the summit focused on market trends and the socioeconomic impact of solutions to global challenges, such as energy transition, connectivity, industrial and health technology.
The team presented Multirisk Prevention, a spin-off idea that consists of a computer platform designed to support decision-making regarding the prevention and management of natural risks. Its main focus is the significant reduction of human and economic losses derived from natural disasters, such as earthquakes, landslides, volcanic eruptions, floods, and forest fires.

To achieve this goal, it uses historical data, geological information, and advanced simulation models. Project highlights include:
- Improved disaster forecasting: The platform provides accurate forecasts on the nature, timing, location and extent of natural disasters. This is essential for land use planning, allowing a change of focus from reactive prevention to proactive prevention.
- Reduction of uncertainty: Provides reliable data to facilitate decision-making in crisis situations, reducing uncertainty.
- Facilitation of informed decision-making: Decision makers benefit from visual and easy-to-understand results, essential elements for territorial planning.
- Multi-risk management: Addresses multiple natural hazards simultaneously, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of risk.
