The third edition of the Air Quality Conference 2023 (Congrés sobre Qualitat de l’Aire 2023) will be held 26th and 27th October at Fira Sabadell, Barcelona. The Institute of Environmental Assessment and Water Research (IDAEA) is part of the high-level scientific committee of the conference, together with ISGlobal, Barcelona Super Computing Center, the Public Health Agency of Barcelona, and the City Hall of Barcelona, among others.
The researcher Xavier Querol, from the EGAR group, will be one of the featured presentations of the event, talking about the transversal policies necessary for effective air quality management. The EGAR group has been working for years on air pollution and the research of technological and non-technological measures to improve air quality and reduce human exposure to pollution.
This event will address the implementation of low-emissions zones, safe school zones and the demand for real policies to improve air quality, which are topics of popular debate throughout Catalonia and Spain, under the prism set by the European Commission and the World Health Organization (WHO).
The conference will also have specialists from different areas sharing air quality study tools, significant data collected, uses and challenges of new fuels for mobility and new urban designs that promote quality of life. These areas are: mobility, health, emissions, modeling/evaluation and urbanism.
