The service provides advanced analytical solutions for the characterization and assessment of contaminant impacts in the environment. Its activities focus on the physicochemical, optical, and biological characterization of environmental samples, with particular emphasis on:
- the analysis of natural organic matter and anthropogenic organic contaminants in aqueous matrices
- studies of environmental aging and photochemical degradation processes.
These capabilities are complemented by advanced data analysis using chemometric (multivariate) tools.
The service is equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation, including a UV–Vis spectrophotometer, a spectrofluorimeter for both cuvette- and microplate-based measurements, a SUNTEST CPS Atlas chamber for accelerated photoaging studies, and a climatic chamber for controlled aging experiments.
